Sustainability Commitments
Efacec is committed to fulfilling global commitments in the areas where it operates, as well as becoming increasingly ambitious in its Sustainability Policy, applying it to all its activities.
Environment
Efacec continues its decarbonization journey
Aware of the urgent need to combat climate change, Efacec joined the United Nations Business Ambition for 1.5ºC movement in 2019, committing to establish Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission reduction targets to limit global warming to 1.5ºC.
Joining forces to limit global warming and to promote the transition to a low-carbon economy are central objectives of this initiative.
Efacec has set emissions reduction targets and they have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative – an international reference that defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting and independently assesses companies’ targets.
The SBTi is a collaboration between Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
Efacec´s decarbonization commitment includes short and long term GHG emission reduction targets, specifically:
- Reduce absolute scope 1 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.*
- Increase annual active sourcing of renewable electricity from 0% in 2019 to 100% by 2030.
- Reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and use of sold products 55% by 2033 from a 2019 base year.
- In the long-term, Efacec commits to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions 90% by 2045 from a 2019 base year.
*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.
The Action Plan that Efacec is developing includes several actions:
- Electrifying operations;
- Adopting zero-emission mobility;
- Contracting renewable energy;
- Increasing energy efficiency;
- Reducing the carbon footprint of products.
The participation of all areas of Efacec and its stakeholders is crucial to achieve decarbonization goals. The transition to a low-carbon economy is part of Efacec’s strategy and reinforces its purpose of creating a smarter future for a better life.
In order to boost the reduction of its carbon footprint, Efacec joined the EV100, a global initiative that brings together companies focused on accelerating the transition to electric vehicles.
Thus, Efacec is gradually converted its vehicle fleet to electric vehicles. Simultaneously, it has supported and encouraged employees to adopt electric mobility by installing charging points at its two main industrial units.
As a leader in the production of charging solutions for electric vehicles, Efacec continues to honor its commitment and alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals by developing sustainable solutions and actions that contribute to the electrification of the future.
