For the first time, representatives of the 80 partners in the Alliance for Energy Transition (ATE) Consortium met face-to-face after two years of preparing and developing the application. The meeting was held a few days ago at the Leixões Cruise Terminal, in Matosinhos.
United by their objective of accelerating the energy transition, through smart electricity grids, decentralisation and digitalisation of the energy sector and the promotion of increasingly sustainable mobility, the working group, comprising entities from the energy sector, reaffirmed its commitment to this common purpose, with a mobilising effect on the structural transformation of the sector.
“The ATE consortium’s commitment to creating value has been reinforced. The ecosystem is cohesive, striking and distinctive. Together we are focused on the future of the energy sector. We maintain the goal of creating 45 new products, processes or services, which will generate an estimated turnover of €550M/year from 2027 onwards, very much driven by an ambition to export the products to be developed. It will also be important to create more than 700 jobs, 420 of which will be qualified,” said Ângelo Ramalho, Efacec’s CEO.
“The participation of all members of the consortium in this meeting highlighted their enormous commitment and involvement and was an important moment for sharing the work being done by each partner, as well as understanding the magnitude of the national ecosystem, which we want to be competitive and capable of asserting itself internationally. Each partner demonstrated their commitment and learnt about the countless opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. We encourage cross-pollination between projects, in the belief that this will enable us to achieve the results we want,” added Rui Lameiras, General Project Coordinator and representative of the consortium leader, Efacec.
The consortium’s unity has been strengthened and ATE is now entering a new phase, in which everyone’s commitment and dynamism will be crucial to the success of the proposed objectives for leveraging the energy cluster. With a target of exporting more than 80% of the turnover generated, ATE will contribute to the creation infrastructures that will enable the reduction of emissions in the energy sector in Portugal and in multiple international geographies.
The ATE consortium is part of the RNC2040 – Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality agenda and is comprised of a network of 80 partners, mobilising a total of 52 companies, 28 entities from the Research & Innovation System, organised into six verticals, Smart Grids, Energy Communities and Micro-grids, Sustainable Mobility, Renewable Energy Production, Transition and Energy Efficiency in Users and Renewable Gases and Sector-Coupling, three horizontal Cross-Cutting, Platform for the Digitalisation of the Energy Sector, Circularity for Energy and Laboratory for the Energy Transition and two transversal axes, Capacity Building and Advanced Training Centre and Business Qualification and Acceleration. Furthermore, the consortium also involves 13 strategic partners.
