The streets of Sanya, China, receive the thrilling electric street-racing series of Formula E next Saturday, March 23th. In the second Asian race in a row, DS TECHEETAH hopes to achieve the victory that escaped in the last meters in Hong Kong.
Mark Preston, DS TECHEETAH Team Principal, hopes to have a better run at this race. “In Hong Kong Jean-Éric Vergne had another race full of misfortunes sadly which were difficult to recover from. He’s such a talented driver and it’s frustrating for him not being able to be up there fighting in the front where he belongs. It was nice to see André Lotterer flying in the front showcasing the pace in the car, and in the wet this time so we’ll take that with us as a positive and do everything that we can to have a good race in Sanya”.
Sanya is DS TECHEETAH home race as the team is owned by China Media Capital (CMC), a company that invests in several business industries related to new technologies, media and sports
The entry in the Asia Pacific market is a strategic step for Efacec. The partnership with CMC offers all the conditions for Efacec to increase brand awareness and to gain new business in this region.
China is one of the main markets of electric mobility worldwide, representing more than half of the global market for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. By the end of 2017, China already had more than 400,000 charging stations, which show its continuous commitment to the development of public and private infrastructures in this field.
Efacec’s track-record in China
Efacec is present in China since 1994, with an initial focus in the area of transformers and currently reinforced with a growing presence on the electric mobility market.
Efacec pioneered foreign direct investment in China back in 1994 with the incorporation of Efacec Oriente Lda. This unit produced nearly 6.000 transformers. Up to date, more than 10 thousand distribution transformers have been produced and exported to this region from Efacec´s facilities in Portugal. We are very proud to contribute to China’s local economy.
In 1994 Efacec took part on an industrial joint-venture, created in Manchuria, for the production of distribution and power transformers for domestic and foreign markets. The investment in these two industrial plants was Efacec’s contribution to empower the local economy and a way to develop a platform to serve this region.
Regarding mobility solutions, the Chinese market is a priority for Efacec, already materialized with the supply of hundreds of EV chargers. The largest bridge in the world, which connects Zhuhai, Macao and Hong Kong, is equipped with an Efacec EV fast charger. It is also noteworthy that Macao was the first place to receive a management system developed by Efacec to manage EV charging points network.
Pioneering in the electric mobility and a world leader in the production of ultra-fast chargers
Efacec is celebrating one year after the opening of its electric mobility dedicated facilities last year. This investment materializes the strong commitment of the company in this sector. In a period of just 12 months, Efacec’s electric mobility area turnover grew up about 100%, reaching an amount of 36 million euro, and more than a hundred people were recruited to strengthen the team dedicated to this business unit.
Efacec offers a full range of electric vehicles chargers for private, public, fast, ultra-fast and wireless segments.
These new electric mobility dedicated facilities materialize the company´s continuous commitment to R&D, innovation and to product engineering and it is aligned with Efacec´s 2020 Strategic Plan, which is the basis for the new cycle the company started in October 2015. This approach allowed Efacec to launch new projects, namely integrated storage solutions, integrated solutions (hardware and software) for home and fleet charging, charging solutions for truck fleets and to evolve the range of high-power solutions.
The company actively participates in the largest markets for electric mobility, especially in Europe and the United States. Efacec is also attentive to other markets such as Asia, Latin America and Oceania, leading the sector in some countries in the region.
With a comprehensive presence in the value chain of Energy, Mobility and Environment, Efacec acts as a solution provider, EPC contractor (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and O&M service partner. Efacec is present in strategic markets such as Europe, the United States of America, Latin America, Asia, Middle East, Maghreb and Southern Africa.
