Efacec has received validation of its decarbonization targets by the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) – a globally referenced entity that ensures the alignment of corporate ambitions with climate science.
With this validation, Efacec is better prepared for the future and demonstrates to all stakeholders its commitment to the low-carbon economy.
The need to act in the face of climate change and achieve decarbonization targets to limit the increase in temperature to 1.5ºC is urgent and Efacec recognizes its role in this effort, minimizing the carbon footprint of its operations by reducing at least half of direct emissions by 2030 and reach net-zero by 2045.
It is important to highlight that Efacec also plays an important role in the development and delivery of enabling solutions for its customers to decarbonize in the energy, environment, and mobility sectors.
These are Efacec’s short and long-term targets:
- Reduce absolute scope 1 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2019 base year*;
- Increase annual active sourcing of renewable electricity from 0% in 2019 to 100% by 2030;
- Reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services and use of sold products 55% by 2033 from a 2019 base year;
- In the long-term, Efacec commits to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions 90% by 2045 from a 2019 base year.
*The target boundary includes land-related emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.
Now, with this validation in hand, Efacec faces the challenge of achieving its goals. The direct reduction of emissions is a priority and only residual emissions will be neutralized in alignment with the SBTi criteria to reach net-zero.
It is important to reinforce that the involvement of multiple stakeholders in the value chain is key to achieving global goals. Efacec hopes to continue collaborating with its stakeholders to fulfill its Purpose: designing a smarter future for a better life.
